Henry Chung 鍾一匡(「鍾氏兄弟」) - (blues harmonica) Henry Chung is the premier blues harmonica player and bandleader in Hong Kong (HK) and all of Asia. Chung was rated “one of Washington’s top jazz and blues musicians” by Washington Post in 2006, after having performed with Grammy winners Pinetop Perkins, Joe Louis Walker, Tab Benoit, Bob Margolin (Muddy Waters’ lead guitarist), and ukulele player Jake Shimabukuro. In 2004, Chung was officially inducted in the “Harmonica Hall of Fame” in the USA. After returning to HK in 2006, his performances with W.C. Handy nominee Mitch Woods and HK’s No. 1 jazz guitarist Eugene Pao earned him “one of the greatest performances of 2007” cited by South China Morning Post and inducted him into the “Who’s Who of HK Music Industry”. In 2008, Chung was voted one of the top 40 HK musicians by TimeOut HK Magazine. In May 2008, he was invited by singer-songwriter Lowell Lo to perform as a special guest in his comeback concert in the HK Coliseum. Chung has recorded harmonica parts for George Lam, Andy Lau, Eason Chan, Hacken Lee, Anthony Wong, and at17 whose songs reached top spots on the local charts. From April to July 2008, Chung was also invited by RTHK Radio 4 to host the programme “Jazzing Up”. In July 2009, Chung released a Canto-Gospel-Blues album called “The Chimes” to a smashing success. It was rated the best 800 audiophile CDs by “The CD Bible” and it was the 10 Bestselling Jazz Albums at HMV in 2009. In July 2014, Chung released an album called “Edge” which received critical acclaim. Their title song “The Anti-Establishment Blues” received the top prizes 2015 CASH Golden Sail Awards, including Best Song of the Year, Best Lyrics, and Best Vocal Collaboration. In addition to being a blues musician, Chung is also a prominent record producer in HK. He has produced albums and songs for Ruth Chen, Teddy Robin, Yao Lee, Howard McCrary, Benjamin Ng, Frances Chiu, Mimi Lo and Vera Sin. Sybil Thomas - (Vocalist) Sybil Thomas was born to sing, to a line of music royalty that is unmatched. As the daughter of the legendary Rufus Thomas, the Stax Records recording artist, who was a famous disc jockey from the WDIA radio in Memphis Tennessee, known for "The Memphis Sound", and the sister of Carla Thomas; she has been singing since the age of five, and is bound for greatness. Her first big break came in the early 70’s when she toured Italy with the distinguished group, The Platters, as the only female singer. In her career, She has toured internationally with many Grammy award- winning artists, such as Roberta Flack, Stevie Wonder, Peabo Bryson, and George Duke. She has also toured or recorded with remarkable artists such as Lou Rawls, The Pointer Sisters, Phyllis Hyman, Jorge Dalto, and many more. Her captivating voice has been heard on several internationally aired commercials for Max Factor, Britannia Jeans, and Yoplait Yogurt to name a few. Sybil’s voice and passion for music has brought down the house at the legendary Apollo Theatre and in New York nightclubs, such as, 7th Avenue South, and Green Street Bar and Café in the West Village, as she worked the circuit in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s. Her international hit record, "Rescue Me" and the voice of Raw Silk’s "Do It to the Music", from West End Records, has stood the test of time and is still on the request list in clubs all over the world. Sybil has also made several special television appearances on the hit comedy show "Saturday Night Live". She would be seen singing backup for several Eddie Murphy skits, with Joe Cocker, and comedian Lily Tomlin. The KK Jazz Festival is coinciding with the release of her new album “Breathe”.
